Few hours ago, Facebook rolled out a new update to it’s much acclaimed Messenger for iPhone. This latest update grants US based owners to now use Facebook Messenger as a ‘Free’ calling service. Calls can be made via WiFi or a cellular data connection.
This new feature will be recieved favorably by heavy phone users as it will cut down phone costs. In order to place a call, all a user has to do is tap the ‘i’ button next to a contacts name as choose the ‘Free Call’ button.

Research In Motion (RIM) has just announced the first beta release for the next major version of Facebook for BlackBerry, which features a redesigned user interface and incorporates a host of new features, including Facebook Chat.
The new Facebook Chat feature integrates with both the app and the unified mailbox. As long as your status is set to “online,” friends can send you notifications even if you aren’t using the app. Even better, within Facebook for BlackBerry 2.0, users can still get alerted about new BlackBerry Messenger messages or see when a new e-mail hits the inbox. A new update to Facebook resolves a couple of bug fixes and issues noticed in the previous versions!
The new changes include:
- Added the ability to upload photos to friend’s Walls
- Upload photos to Groups
- Photos will always upload with the correct orientation
- Improvements to landscape mode
